Blender for Teachers
(Sunday, March 08 - Friday, March 13, 2009)

Location:http://knowschools.ca
Facilitator: Marian Heddescheimer, Germany

Blender is a free 3D software that can be used to create your own 3D models. It can also be used to make animation movies and games. In this knowWEEK we will focus on the very basics, so that you will be able to create a simple 3D object and produce a nice picture with lights and shadows. Blender is available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux. We will learn how to download and install the software. You will learn the basics about modeling a simple 3D object, how to apply materials like stone or glass on your objects and how to set your lights to produce a nice picture using your 3D objects. This week will be very basic. No prerequisites needed, but you should already know how to use your computer and the Internet. If you want to install the software a few days before the class stars, you can find it here: http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/

Please note: there will be a participant synchronous session Sunday March 8, in the group chatroom, at 11 am PDT - an opportunity to get to know Marian and ask any questions you may have
